Resort Reviews

Ski holidays in Peio - sitting in the beautiful Val di Sole with The Stelvio National Park to the north and the Adamello Brenta nature Park to the south, Peio is the oldest resort in the Val di Sole and a great base for skiing but also for relaxation.

Wellbeing & Spas

There are three thermal springs that feed the pools of several local spas including the new thermal spa centre that offers a wide range of therapeutic thermal-water treatments.

Après-ski

The après-ski is fairly relaxed and relatively quiet when compared to some of the larger and more well known Italian ski resorts such as Courmayeur. However, there are several bars and restaurants where you can be guaranteed good fun and excellent local cuisine.

Beginners

For people who have never skied before, Peio is a fantastic ski resort to learn the basics with lots of gentle green and blue pistes that roll in to the village.

Intermediate

With the new gondola taking you up to 3000m, intermediate skiers will have a ball flying down the 8km red Val della Mite piste to Peio Fonti at 1400m.

Then you have access to all the other ski areas in Val di Sole where there is simply too much ski terrain to cover in a weeks holiday.

Advanced

Not one of the best ski areas for technically demanding terrain but around Val di Sole, there are ample black pistes to challenge advanced skiers and boarders.

Back-country touring with a guide is highly recommended if you want to experience the very best with itineraries that take you all the way to the Eastern Dolomites where you can tackle the 24km Sella Ronda.

Other ski holiday activities

If you don't ski or fancy something different, there are plenty of other activities to try...

  • Ice skating
  • Ski mountaineering
  • Snowshoeing
  • Ice climbing
  • Paragliding
  • Swimming

Snowboarding

As with beginner and intermediate skiers, Peio is a good place to start and improve your boarding techniques. For a bit of fun, there is the Biancaneve Snow Park in Cogolo di Peio which is great for kids to have fun with the tubing lanes.

There are 5 more snow parks dotted around the linked areas of Marilleva, Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo.

Our view on ski holidays in Peio

We think Peio is a great resort for beginners and families and an ideal base for exploring the vast ski area of the Val di Sole.

  • Venture over to Madonna di Campiglio for a spot of lunch and soak up the atmosphere
  • For early or late season skiing, head up to Passo Tonale where you can ski on the glacier

If you like Peio being a small traditional alpine resort then quite similar is the pretty lakeside ski resort of Alleghe in the Eastern Dolomites near Arabba and Cortina.
