Skiing holidays in ItalySki resorts across the Italian Alps & Dolomites

Ski holidays in Italy - majestic scenery, great food and lively apres-ski. Plus there is plenty of variety from high altitude ski resorts such as Cervinia to quaint traditional resorts such as Courmayeur or Corvara in the Dolomites. In a nutshell, winter holidays in the Italian Alps or Dolomites, are fun for all the family, skiers and non-skiers alike.

Often over looked as a top ski holiday destination, the Italian ski resorts provide excellent value when compared to some of the French or Swiss ones. Whether its the cost of your accommodation, the lift pass or the apres-ski, your money goes much further and it does not mean compromising on quality - quite the opposite!

Featured ski regions in Italy

Italy's mountains have some of the most stunning alpine vistas in Europe and are home to several cosmopolitan and chic ski resorts such as Cortina and Madonna di Campiglio. However, one of the best kept secrets are the villages in the Dolomites. Many are linked by an incredible 1220km of pistes covered by the Dolomiti SuperSki pass that makes this area one of the largest ski carousels in the world. Part of the attraction is the famous 27km Sella Ronda circuit plus the FIS downhill race course in Val Gardena.

Val Senales

Val Senales sits in Sud Tyrol on the Austrian border and is close to the international spa town of Merano. The Schnalstaler Glacier at Val Senales stretches upto the top of the Grawand cableway upper station at 3212m. Whilst not the largest glacier in Europe, the Schnalstaler provides a good variety of trails for all levels of skier and there is the Nitro snowpark for snowboarders.

Cervinia

Cervinia off the Aosta Valley offers a little terrain for summer skiing on The Plateau Rosa glacier at 3500m. However, the bonus is that it connects to the much larger Paradise Glacier in Zermatt where you can ski at 3800m. with 22kms of pistes, the skiing is suitable for all levels and you will often see the national races teams training.

Presena Glacier

The Presena Glacier at Passo del Tonale is set amongst spectacular peaks between the Brenta Dolomites and the Ortler Group, although transfer times are longer compared to many other glacier areas (130km to Milan Bergamo and 180km to Verona). With 500m of vertical served by only a handful of lifts, it may not be a first choice for some.
