By plane

The nearest airport is Sion in the Rhone Valley. Airport transfers up to Zermatt (Täsch) take around 1 hour.

By car

As Zermatt is car-free, all cars must be parked at Täsch which is 5km before Zermatt. From Tasch, trains run every 15-20 minutes up to Zermatt.

There is also the option of taking a local taxi - either from Tasch or directly from the airport. Only Zermatt residents or local taxis are allowed to drive up to Zermatt so if you are booking a non-local airport transfer, these taxis can only take you as far as Tasch.
