Day Trips
Zell am See - Kaprun summer holidays consist of long sunny days that can get surprisingly hot with temperatures often north of 30 degrees. This means you have that Mediterranean climate but being surrounded by mountains, glaciers and lakes means there is so much to see and do.
There are beautiful walks through forests, along rivers, lakes and glaciers - the region has more than 500km of marked paths for you to discover in this fascinating part of the Austrian Alps. Some of our other favourites include...
Großglockner High Alpine Road
This is one of the most famous mountain roads in the world and is generally packed in the summer with bikers. It takes you through the Hohe Tauern National Park passing Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3,798m). The route is just 48km long but has 36 hairpin bends rising up to 2504m!!
Krimmler Wasserfälle
Take a stroll up to Europe's highest waterfalls - Krimmler Wasserfälle. The Krimml Waterfalls are the highest in Europe and the fifth highest in the world with a drop of 380m.
Mooserboden dam
If you like water then a hike up to the Mooserboden dam and around the Kitzsteinhorn reservoir is a good day trip and the views are spectacular. The dam is 107m high and 500m long at 2000m and there are organised tours that explain how electricity is generated
