Wengen ski area guide
Wengen lies within the Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen ski area and it is possible to ski right down to the village. Whilst beginners can learn to ski on the Figgeler training slopes, the more experienced skiers and snowboarders can take the cable car up to Männlichen or the rack railway to Kleine Scheidegg. As well as the local Wengen ski area, you can also ski in to the connected resorts of Mürren, and Grindelwald
Beginners
Wengen has convenient nursery slopes at the heart of the village and there is the beginners' park at Kleine Scheidegg.
Intermediate
The whole Jungfrau area is ideal for intermediate skiers with lots of blues and red inter-linking pistes and great for touring across the 3 mountains.
Advanced
Advanced skiers and boarders should head to the Eiger glacier or the very difficult runs off the Lauberhorn chairlift including the famous worldcup downhill run.
Snowboard
The off-piste is very popular with snowboarders as there are many powder bowls on the Mürren-Schilthorn area.
Things to see & do in Wengen
- Ride up to theJungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe at 3454m
- Ice skating, curling
- Ice climbing
- Snow tubing
- 100km of winter walking trails, snowshoeing
- Parapenting

Tobaganning
If you like sledging then Grindelwald has one of the longest tracks in the alps at 15km. It starts at the Faulhorn and drops by Bussalp down to Grindelwald with a drop of 1600m - superb fun for all the family but remember to wear goggles as the snow sprays into your face.
Our view on ski holidays in Wengen
We think Wengen ski resort is a top destination either for skiing where there are more than enough pistes to cater for a weeks ski holiday or for your summer lakes & mountains holiday with Interlaken and it's two lakes being at the bottom of the valley. A great resort for families with so many things to see and do keeping everyone entertained.
- Ski over to Mürren-Schilthorn and head up to the Piz gloria revolving restaurant for a lunch with a view you won't forget!
- Ski the Lauberhorn World Cup downhill run - but watch your speed
If you like Wengen being a pretty and charming ski resort then also quite similar is the beautiful resort of Les Carroz in the Grand Massif ski area of Haute Savoie in France and Alleghe in the Italian Dolomites. Both ski resorts offer exceptional opportunities for touring with many connected resorts under one lift pass.
