Resort Review
Veysonnaz is a picturesque mountain village perched high up in the Valaisan Alps at 1350m giving amazing views over the Rhone Valley and it's capital city Sion.
Veysonnaz has managed to retain its authentic character despite the increase in tourism but at the same time, has invested in the infrastructure giving a fast and efficient lift system.
Wellness & spa
Off the slopes, there is an indoor swimming pool and spa. Turkish baths, saunas, jacuzzi and various massage treatments are available.
Veysonnaz ski area guide
Being part of the "4 Valleys" ski domain, Veysonnaz provides easy access to over 400km of pistes, 100 lifts and guaranteed snow thanks to the numerous snow canons!
Linking with Nendaz, Verbier and Thyon, this pretty ski resort provides superb family skiing and for those who like touring, there is almost too much choice.
As a starter, the ski to Nendaz and back is an ideal goal for a day with a good variety of pistes for all levels and many places to grab a quick weissbier. Further afield, you can reach Verbier but leave enough time to get back!

Beginners
For the complete beginner, there are some excellent nursery on the upper slopes of Veysonnaz at 2200m and over on the frozen lake at Tracouet above Nendaz.
Intermediate
There is a huge amount of local skiing without having to take in all the 4 valley lift systems. The local area covers Nendaz, Siviez and Thyon and is known as the Printz area. Plenty of tree skiing especially good on those flat-light days. If you need more runs to keep you occupied, then venturing around the 4 Vallées is within easy reach and there, steeper and more challenging runs can be found especially around Mont Gele and La Chaux.
Advanced
For the advanced skier - Les 4 Vallées is absolute heaven. The unmarked and ungroomed trails are amazing, not just for the scenery but because they are seriously challenging. Try the famous “Piste de l’Ours”- one of the most important World Cup Ski runs for that extra thrill.
Snowboarding
The 4 valleys offers the snowboarder a serious amount of terrain to freeride and some fantastic itineraries to test the stamina. In Veysonnaz there is 1 snowpark plus a couple more in Nendaz.
Non-skiing activities
If you don't fancy skiing or boarding, there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy including:
- 5km of local cross-country trails
- Sledging
- Snow tubing in Thyon
- 6 snowshoe tracks
- 100km of marked walks
- Heliskiing
- Ice climbing
- Paragliding
- Ice skating
Après-ski
Veysonnaz can be as lively or as relaxing as you want to make it. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars - some with live music - and a nightclub for those of you who want to party until the early hours.
Children
There is a day care centres in nearby Thyon that take children from 18 months to 8 years and are open 7 days a week in the winter season. Children aged between 3 and 5 can also attend the Snow Gardens - there are two in Veysonnaz where the kids will be taught to ski by the local ski schools.
Featured ski chalets & apartments
Veysonnaz accommodation
The accommodation in Veysonnaz is superb ranging from hotels, holiday rentals including ski chalets and apartments to rent, B&Bs and other holiday homes.
There are over 4500 rental beds in the ski resort but these tend to get booked up very quickly during the peak school holiday weeks.
Our view on Veysonnaz ski holidays
Veysonnaz is a brilliant ski resort that's getting a big reputation for being great fun on and off the piste. A few suggestions for your holiday..
- Every Tuesday evening you can go on an adventure up the Mayen run either by ski touring or snow-shoe hiking and the Mont Rouge restaurant stays open until 9.30pm
- For a full days skiing or boarding, head to Verbier for lunch and then head back. Just remember to book your restaurant in Verbier as they get packed in peak season
- Whilst at Verbier and if you are feeling like a challenge, try the trail down the Vallon d'Arbi - either on skis or snowboard. This is one of our favourite runs but make sure you try it before lunch as its quite a hike back to Veysonnaz
- In summer or winter, a good day out is a visit to the underground lake of St-Lennard in Sion
Ski resorts similar to Veysonnaz are Gerlos in the beautiful Ziller Valley in Austria and Grimentz
