How to get to Val Gardena-Ortisei

Val Gardena, being in South Tyrol, is right in the heart of the Dolomites and is easy to get to whether you are flying, driving or coming by train.

By plane

The closest airport is Bolzano - with an airport transfer of just 40km. However, not many airlines fly there so the most popular and nearest starting points to get to Val Gardena are from Verona or Innsbruck with transfer times of around 2 hours. Venice is an alternative and again, takes a little over 2 hours.

By car

Depending on where you are coming from, the driving distances to Val Gardena are:

  • Bolzano 40 km
  • Innsbruck 120 km
  • Verona 190 km
  • Venice 250 km
  • Milan 300 km
  • Rome 700 km

By train

There are good IC and EC connections from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium which stop in Munich, Innsbruck, Brennero to Bressanone or Bolzano. There are regular buses from Bressanone and Bolzano to transfer you to Val Gardena.
