San Martino in Badia ski resort - sitting in the stunning Pustertal Valley, Kronplatz (name of the mountain) is known to be one of the best wintersports destinations in South Tyrol. It is also a popular summer retreat for families, hikers, cyclists and everyone who enjoys culture, good food and relaxation surrounded by pristine natural beauty.

Skiers of all abilities love the extensive pistes, mountain huts and fun attractions at Kronplatz! With its 32 lifts, 119 km of pistes and 5 mighty black runs, it is a giant playground for mountain enthusiasts at any time of year but especially when covered in snow.

Après-ski

For a small resort, the après-ski in San Martino in Badia can be lively and there is a good party atmosphere with some bars offering live music. There is a good selection of cafes and restaurants plus a few shops but for a wider selection, you can head into nearby Brunico.

Beginners

Kronlatz has a beginner area and there are several gentle blue pistes to practice on after the first few days.

Intermediate

The whole Kronplatz ski area is geared towards intermediate skiers. However, if you like touring, the 24km Sella Ronda tour taking in resorts like Arabba, Selva and Canazei is probably one of the best days skiing you will ever do. The Sella Ronda is accessed via Alta Badia 20 minutes away by ski bus.

Advanced

There are 5 challenging black pistes on Plan de Corones

For some more challenging runs, there are many ski touring opportunities in the Kronplatz area. These tours involve using skins so you can walk uphill and to get the best out of the numerous route, it is highly recommeneded you use a local guide.

Cross-country

There are over 300kms of cross-country ski trails along the valleys and side valleys around the Plan de Corones-Kronplatz ski region. Some of the trails are at altitude such as the Passo delle Erbe-Würzjoch at 2,000m whilst others wind around the valley floor through the forests - there is something for everyone.

Snowboard

Snowboarders and freestyle skiers are spoilt for choice in Kronplatz. The snowpark is next to the Belvedere Piste and offers an Easy Line, Medium Line, Medium Rail Line and Medium Kickerline promising plenty of tricks and adrenaline.

San Vigilio has plenty on offer for all seasons - a few suggestions...

  • Take the ski bus to La Villa and connect in to the famous 24km Sella Ronda circuit. This is a must do day out if you enjoy ski touring
  • Try the Great War 1915-18 Ski Tour around the Col di Lana mountain. This is a great alternative to the famous Sella Ronda tour
