Livigno is a high altitude ski resort sitting at the top of the Valtellina Valley at 1816m. Livigno comprises 3 small villages along a 12km stretch of the valley floor. It is one of the remotest ski resorts in the Alps - the locals call it "Little Tibet" as there are only a couple of routes in and out of the resort. Livigno is a famous international duty-free tourist resort and is sandwiched between The Stelvio and Engandine National Parks close to the Swiss border - an area of extreme natural beauty.
Spa & Wellbeing
Livigno has a wellness centre and spa with pool which is very popular when the weather is not that great. There are also the thermal springs in Bormio where there are excellent spas. Bormio is just 30km away and there are frequent buses.
Après-ski
The après-ski in Livigno is fun and lively and there are plenty of rustic restaurants throughout the resort that offer local and international cuisine. There are many bars with live music and a nightclub that is open until the early hours.

The local skiing area in Livigno is spread over 3 main ski areas - Carosello, Costaccia and Mottolino and together serve up 115km of pistes mainly geared towards beginners and intermediates.

The beauty of skiing in Livigno is that you have access to some fantastic ski resorts all within a 30 minute drive. When you add in the neighbouring resorts of...
- Santa Caterina (20min down the valley with 40km of pistes)
- San Colombano (30km of piste)
- Bormio (30 min)
...the ski area provides over 170km of trails covered by the Valtellina lift pass.
Skiing is also possible in St Moritz which is an hours drive across the border in to Switzerland.
Beginners
Beginners will find a good selection of nursery slopes half-way up the mountain and the ski school is excellent.
Intermediate
Livigno is tailor made for intermediate skiers and boarders with some long reds to cruise in the sunshine. However, there are not that many options unless you take the free bus out to the Val di Dentro-San Colombano area or make a day trip to Santa Caterina or Bormio. The pistes in Livigno are generally uncrowded and ideal for those long carving turns.
Advanced
Experts may be a tiny bit disappointed here as there is not much in terms of challenging black pistes. However, if you make the trip up to the Stelvio Pass area where you can go summer skiing, there is some great off-piste or why not try out the St Moritz ski area for a day - superb terrain for all levels.

Children
Livigno has some excellent childrens clubs - children aged between 3 and 10 years old can go in to the Mini Club which provides full day care with skiing lessons if required.

Our view on ski holidays in Livigno
We think Livigno is a great ski resort to visit any time of the year and is perfect for families with so many things to do to keep everyone entertained.
- A good day out is a trip to the glitzy resort of St Moritz over the Swiss border. The journey takes about an hour with some stunning scenery along the way. St Moritz is famous for it's chic shops and restaurants as well as some excellent skiing terrain
- Take a drive up to The Stelvio pass - the drive and scenery is fantastic and once there, you could do some summer skiing or take a guided glacier walk
