The Gulmarg piste map is a little deceiving as it only shows the 2 stage gondola and a couple of chairlits and a T-bar for the whole area! Not much you might say.

However,when you reach the top station on Mount Mt Apharwat at 4000m, you soon realise that that the amount of terrain available matches some of the mainstream European resorts.

Plus, the vertical is mouth watering with some 1350m down to the resort through deep off-piste powder bowls and gladed forests - this is heli-skiing without a helicopter!

The Gulmarg piste map should be renamed the off-piste map as there are 17 bowls to choose from offering some fabulous untracked deep powder trails that end up taking you through the forest areas toward the village. These bowls are not patrolled so taking a local guide is advisable.
