Overview

Zürs ski resort is a little smaller than its sister resort Lech (5kms away) but is equally refined, chic and sophisticated. From A-list celebrities to members of the Royal Family, Zürs attracts skiers and boarders from around the world.

Sitting at 1,716m at the top of the Lech valley, snow is virtually guaranteed with the resort receiving around 9m of snow a season, making it one of the snowiest ski resorts in the Alps.

Après-ski

Being a chic and sophisticated ski resort, Zürs boasts a number of upmarket restaurants and trendy bars with the hotels providing their fair share of evening entertainment. Prices tend to be on the high side but the resort does cater for the full range of budgets. The Hirlanda bar and Kaminstuble in the Schweizerhaus are two popular apres-ski venures straight from the slopes.

Zürs ski area guide

The Arlberg ski area is vast with a whopping 305kms of lift-linked pistes connecting 6 ski resorts. The local ski area of Zürs has 180kms of pistes that includes the ski areas of Lech and Warth-Schröcken via the Auenfeldjet gondola.

In the winter of 2016, the Flexenbahn 10-seater cable car became operational linking Zürs with Stuben which is lift-linked to St Anton. This side of the Arlberg which include St Christoph ski resort provides a further 160kms of pistes and all covered by the Arlberg Lift Pass.

Beginners

New comers to the sport are well catered for with a beginners area that links into some gentle blue pistes.

Intermediate

The Zürs ski area is ideal for a weeks ski holiday for intermediate skiers and boarders with plenty of blue and red pistes across the local area. For touring, you can now ski over to St Anton but leave plenty of time to get back.

Advanced

Lech and Zurs provide plenty of challenging terrain and across the Alberg ski area, there is over 200kms of off-piste itineraries. One of the classic tours is the 85km "White Ring" which takes you around a loop of the Lech ski area.

On top of all that Lech and Zürs are the only ski resorts in Austria offering heli-skiing - for advanced skiers and boarders this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Cross country

There are 40kms of cross-country and walking trails around Zürs.

Our View on Zürs

Skiing around the Arlberg carousel on a sunny day takes some beating. Fantastic views of the surrunding peaks, great mountain restaurants and excellent ski touring opportunities.

If you like Zürs, you may also want to look at Gstaad in Switzerland and Megeve in France.
