Resort Review
St. Johann lies in a valley basin at 670m between the mountain range of the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain in the centre of the district of Kitzbühel. Its a small family friendly alpine village with lots of charm and character and people come throughout the year to relax and take in the stunning scenery.
Après-ski
With over 50 restaurants and many lively bars, the apres-ski is varied and good fun. Starting late afternoon, Cafe Reiner is normally where people head to straight off the slopes for music and drinks followed by one or two pubs for the younger crowd to enjoy.
St Johann ski area guide
St Johann is part of the Kitzbühel area that gives an average annual snowfall of more than 2.5m in the valley and around 8m on the mountains making it pretty certain you wont be skiing on grass!
However, just in case there is a lack of snow, about three quarters of the slopes have snow cannons which is pretty impressive given the amount of pistes.
The skiing season in St. Johann usually commences before Christmas (around middle of December) and continues until early April. It is perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers and boarders.
The main family-friendly skiing areas are at Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf, while the Kitzbüheler Horn has skiable terrain for all skill levels.

Beginners
St Johann and its neighbouring village of Kirchdorf have 3 beginner areas where you can learn the basics before heading off up the mountain.
Throughout the area, there are 94 blue runs to choose from including some beautiful gentle pistes thrugh the lower forests.
Intermediate
Internediate skiers and boarders have enough pisted terrain to keep them occupied which gets larger and larger the further you go off the groomed pistes.
Tree-lined decents through the pines are great fun as are the red runs starting from Jodalm. For more terrain to explore, a day over to Kitzbühel is well worth the trip.
Advanced
With only 3 black runs on the north facing slopes of the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain, there is limited terrain to tempt the advanced skier.
However, throughout the Kitzbühe area, there is plenty of terrain both on and off the pistes to challenge the experts.
Snowboarding
The terrain park St. Johann /Oberndorf has moguls, half-pipe, boxes, kickers and other features that will test the abilities of snowboarders and freestylers alike providing hours of fun for all levels.
Cross-country
The area of Kitzbüheler Alpen includes St. Johann, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf and together, they provide a network of 250km of superbly groomed trails for classic and skate skiing, for all levels.
