Manali Ski Holidays Skiing in Solang Valley - Himachal Pradesh
Overview
Manali in Himachal Pradesh northern India, is the gateway to the Solang Valley ski area just 12km away. Sitting at 2050m, this hill station is perched on the northern edge of the Kullu Valley next to the Beas river with spectacular views of the Himalayas.
With an average annual snowfall of 350 inches, the Solang Valley offers one of the longest ski seasons in India typically starting in December and running through to early June. There are just 2 intermediate pistes accessed by the gondola and a beginners area at the base station. Not extensive terrain by any means but the main draw in winter is the ski touring and heli-skiing on 5000m peaks!

Manali Accommodation
The main place to stay is in and around Manali where you can find comfortable lodgings reminiscent of European ski chalets and grandiose villas that wouldnt look out of place in the Bavarian forests. And, unlike some of the European ski resorts, the accommodation is exceptional value for money.
Our view on skiing in Manali
If you are visiting this part of India during the winter, then venturing out to the adrenaline playground in the Solang Valley is definitely worth doing. Whilst not a huge ski area and just one gondola, the off-piste touring opportunities are unlimited especially if you try heli-skiing.
