Les Gets is one of 12 resorts in the Portes du Soleil ski system that combine giving a massive 650km of pistes spanning resorts in France and Switzerland. Les Gets is the first resort you drive through before arriving at it's larger and much busier neighbour Morzine which sits some 800m below Avoriaz.
Les Gets started life as a dairy farming village back in the 12th-century and has managed to keep it's heritage as a traditional Savoyard village with plenty of character and charm.

Skiing in the Portes du Soleil system means you can ski all day and never touch the same piste twice from the rabbit runs in the Lindarets forest to the long cruising blues and reds around Morzine.
The entire area provides a great mix of piste for all levels of skier and for families wanting to ski together, there is a network of inter-connecting blues and reds serviced by the same lifts.

Les Gets local ski area is divided in to Chavannes which is linked to Morzine and Mont-Chery. Both areas are superb for tree lined skiing and ideally suited to beginners and intermediates.
Beginners
With 140 green and blue slopes across the Portes du Soleil, there is no shortage of beginner slopes. Perhaps one of the best beginner areas is France is the Super-Morzine area reached by taking the Super-Morzine lift.
Intermediate
Les Gets is heaven for the intermediate skier with almost too much to choose from. You can ski clockwise or anti-clockwise around the Portes du Soleil taking in resorts such as Morzine, Chatel, Avoriaz and Champery in Switzerland.
Advanced
Some very challenging runs can be found with 25 very long black slopes including the famous "Wall" in Avoriaz with moguls as high as an adult! There is also the black snowcross at Avoriaz. Its upper part offers wonderful panoramic views and its lower part is made of slopes that run in the middle of the forest.
Cross-country
Les Gets has 12 km of marked trails for cross-country skiing with double tracks so you can also do the skating step.
Snowboard
The Portes du Soleil area is well known for it's snowparks and there are 10 in total. Avoriaz has snowcross areas (secured off piste areas), boardercross and numerous snowparks designed for all levels.
Other ski holiday activities
If you want a break from skiing or the weather isn't that great, the area is teaming with things to see and do.
A great day out is a trip to the shores of Lake Geneva and visiting one of it's pretty lakeside resorts such as Montreux or Geneva.

Après-ski
Après-ski in Les Gets is fairly relaxed and comparatively quiet when compared to it's neighbour Morzine. There are several rustic restaurants that offer good local and international cuisine and bars with live music and a nightclub that is open until the early hours.
Children
The creche in Les Gets takes youngsters from 6 months and the ski school kindergartens typically take children from 3 years old. The Tourist Office organises lots of events for the children from outdoor adventures to nature trails.

Skiing in Les Gets - We think this is a brilliant resort for your ski holidays where there is simply too many pistes to cover in a week. Les Gets is also perfect for families and beginners with it's gentle slopes and plenty of activities off the pistes to keep everyone entertained.
If you like Les Gets being a quaint and charming albeit quite large traditional alpine resort then also quite similar is the beautiful village of Le Grand Bornand in the Aravis Massif and St Gervais. Both ski resorts offer exceptional opportunities for touring with many connected resorts under one lift pass.
