La Tzoumaz Ski Resort Guide & Reviews Ski Area, Apres-Ski, Children, Accommodation, Other Activities
Resort Review
Ski holidays in La Tzoumaz - a charming and traditional resort within one of the biggest ski areas in the Alps - Les 4 Vallées and Ski St-Bernard.
Just under an hour from Sion airport, La Tzoumaz is more of a beginner and family resort but with access to some of the longest and challenging steeps in the Alps up at Mont Fort, Verbier. Some amazing views being in the shadow of Mont Blanc and the Grand Combin, family friendly and good fun is how we would describe La Tzoumaz.
Ski Area Guide - 4 Valleys
All the resorts within the 4 Valleys area lift linked allowing all levels of skier and boarder the chance to cruise around some 410km of piste.
The local area of Savoleyres, La Tzoumaz is a paradise for families with more gentle slopes than the Mont Fort and has some great runs through the trees and is often less crowded.

The local lift pass covers 8 lifts, 55km of pistes from 1520m up to 2,354m and around 62% of the slopes are blue with only 5% black.
The St-Bernard ski area gives a further 100km of runs which are generally much quieter than in Les 4 Vallées and includes Bruson.
Beginners
With wide runs and gentle slopes, La Tzoumaz is particularly suitable for beginners and children. An ideal place to learn and build your confidence.
Intermediate
The 4 Valleys gives the intermediate skier ample variety with ski touring particularly good fun and as challenging as you want to make it. The numerous itinerary routes coming off Mont Fort should only be attempted if if you are a strong intermediate skier or with a guide.
Advanced
The Mont Fort area around Verbier that peaks at 3300m is popular for the hard core boarders and skiers with many challenging decents from the summit.
The 4 Vallees has some of the best itinerary runs in the Alps that are both long and extremely challenging. Combined with the black runs and virtually unlimited off-piste terrain, the 4 Vallees is paradise for the more advanced technical skiers and free riders.

Apres-ski
More relaxed than Verbier and better value, La Tzoumaz has several bars and restaurants to choose from although not that extensive. However, Verbier is just a few minutes away where there is ample choice - just remember to reserve your table a few days in advance during the peak season.

La Tzoumaz accommodation
La Tzoumaz caters for all tastes and budgets with many chalets and residence apartments being close to the lifts, bars and restaurants. As La Tzoumaz has expanded over the years, the ski chalets have been creeping steadily away from the centre, both up and down the slopes giving more choice and variety with some of the properties now offering door-step skiing.
In terms of cost, La Tzoumaz is certainly good value for money when compared to it's more famous neighbour Verbier.
Our view
A fantastic ski resort with easy access to the impressive 4 valleys ski area. Off the radar for now but is getting a reputation for offering excellent service and value for money.
Plus, there is the ski area of Champex-Lac over at St Bernard where two-thirds of the pistes are for intermediate skiers providing some cracking runs through the Arpette Valley
Other ski resorts similar to La Tzoumaz are Veysonnaz and Maria Alm in Austria.
