Beginners

A great resort for beginners with the gentle nursery slopes conveniently situated close to the village and most rental chalets, apartments and hotels.

Intermediate

A variety of red runs on the main skiing area of Vitranc will hold your interest as there is a wide variety of terrain. You will also be able to explore the linked resort of Podkoren included in the lift pass.

For some fun, there are numerous routes off to the side of the tree lined pistes. Ambitious skiers will enjoy the challenge of the FIS World Cup slalom run.

Advanced

Experienced skiers should immediately head for the challenging black pistes of the Podkoren Mountain, where they will also have the opportunity to tackle the World Cup slalom run.

Ski touring

For touring, the Zgornjesavska Valley is probably the best place starting with a gentle downhill run from the Karavanke summits followed by skiing down the ridge of the Julian Alps! Other popular touring routes include Mojstrovka, Kriška Mountain and the route from Kredarica to Krma.

Things to See & Do

    • Snow shoeing
    • Snowmobile
    • Skating
    • Sledging

Children are looked after very well with two kindergartens. The ski kindergarten caters for 3-6 year olds and non-ski kindergarten for 2-6 years.

Snowboard & Cross country

Snowboarders have a good variety of slopes to choose from although the number of drag lifts maybe a bit daunting for the first timers!

For cross-country skiing, if you enjoy having genuine contact with nature more than you do speed, there are around 40km of cross-country tracks that will lead you around all of Kranjska Gora’s ski slopes, under the ski jumping facilities in Planica and into the Tamar Valley.
