How to get to Ischgl
Ski holidays in Ischgl are great fun and getting to the resort is straight forward whether driving or coming by train.
By plane
Airport transfers from Innsbruck to Ischgl take around 90 minutes covering 110km so with an early flight, ski holidays in Ischgl for long weekends are also a good option.
By train
If you don't want an airport transfer, you can also get pretty close to Ischgl on the train exiting at Landeck-Zams station. From there, you will still need to get the local bus 4240 or taxi which takes around an hour travelling through some of the most spectacular scenery the Tyrolean Alps have to offer.
By car
If you are driving, there are a couple of things to bear in mind...
- There are motorway tolls in Austria. Anyone caught without a valid ‘Vignette’ will have to pay a hefty fine. ‘Vignettes’ are available from kiosks and service stations (also in bordering countries). They are valid for 10 days, 2 months or for a full year.
- An extra fee is payable for the Arlberg tunnel
- In winter appropriate equipment is required, and depending on the weather, you will need to know how to use snow chains
