Adelboden ski resort guide & reviews Ski area, apres-ski, things to see & do in Adelboden

Resort Review

Adelboden sits at the end of the Simmental Valley hemmed in by the Wildstrubel massif and is an extremely pretty ski resort steeped in history and tradition and famous for it's fine spas.

It is very popular with families and tourists just wanting to get a feel for what it's like staying in one of the most beautiful villages in the Alps with breath taking views of the surrounding peaks.

Après-ski

The apres-ski scene is fairly relaxed with the emphasis more on quality than quantity. Having said that, there are some good lively bars with live music although dont expect anywhere near as many as you would find in Verbier.

Beginners

Adelboden has a fantastic beginners area on the Betelberg area which also where the childrens kindergarten is situated.

Intermediate

The whole Lenk - Adelboden area is ideal for intermediate skiers with lots of blues and red inter-linking pistes. Some of the best areas are Luegli and Lavey above Geils and Engstligenalp.

Advanced

Advanced skiers and boarders are in for a treat as the Adelboden is home to the most challenging terrain of all the ski sectors. The world Cup piste at Chuenisbargil really tests your skills!

Snowboard

The Gran Masta Park at Hahnenmoo is fully equipped with rails and kickers whilst at Betelberg, there is the Snowcross Park on Hasler which is popular with freeriders and snowboarders.

Things to see & do

  • Ice skating, curling
  • Ice climbing
  • Snow tubing
  • Snowshoeing plus night time tours
  • Parapenting
  • Heli-skiing
  • Igloo building with overnight stay!

Tobaganning

If you like sledging, Adelboden has a 3km-long toboggan run starting from the Leiterli mountain station on the Betelberg to the Stoss half-way station - superb fun for all the family but remember to wear goggles as the snow sprays into your face.

Our view on Adelboden

We think Adelboden ski resort is a hidden gem but not for long - its a top resort either for skiing where there are more than enough pistes to cater for a weeks ski holiday or for your summer lakes & mountains holiday. A great resort for families with so many things to see and do keeping everyone entertained - not to be missed.
