Just 40 minutes drive from Innsbruck, Zillertal is one of Austria's most beautiful valleys just over the Brenner pass from Italy and home to some traditional, authentic, family friendly villages and international resorts such as Mayrhofen.

Ski Carousels and linked areas
The skiing around the valley is suitable for all levels of skier and boarder from absolute beginners to experts with 530km of pistes across the Zillertal Arena and Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 - Hintertux Glacier ski areas. The Zillertal Arena includes the ski resorts of Gerlos and Zell am Ziller and provides 143km of linked pistes with the main focus on beginners and intermediates.
Ski Zillertal 3000 includes the Hintertux glacier and the ski areas above Mayrhofen on the Ahorn and Penken mountains. Whilst the ski terrain is for all abilities, there is certainly more for the advanced skiers such as Austria's steepest piste - the Harakiri with gradients of 78 degrees in places! For some ski touring, the 66km Glacier tour is not to be missed. Starting from the valley lift at Finkenberg Almbahen, you head towards the Hintertux Glacier and cover 15000m of vertical in 1 day!

Après-ski
The villages in the Zillertal valley offer apres-ski which can be as lively or as relaxing as you want to make it depending upon which resort you choose to stay in. Mayrhofen is certainly the busiest and has the largest selection of bars, clubs and restaurants. The other villages are more traditional and probably the best way to describe the après-ski is relaxed.
Fugen - Kaltenbach
Fugen sits near the entrance to the Zillertal Valley and is a wonderful family friendly resort. In the winter, there are 113kms of local pistes that reach upto 2500m and includes the longest artificial snow-covered run in the valley.
Things that set Fugen - Kaltenbach apart from other ski resorts include cat skiing Canadian style, eating gourmet cuisine from a piste basher and staying overnight in the Albergo mountain restaurant.There is also a creche for children aged 0-7 years old.
Zell - Gerlos
This is Zillertal's largest ski area with a massive 143kms of pistes for all levels serviced by 52 lifts. The ski area covers 4 mountains spanning Tyrol and Salzburg and has a wide selection of valley pubs and restaurants to kick-start the apres-ski.
Zell and Gerlos are part of the Zillertal Arena carousel which via Gerlos, extends over to Wald-Königsleiten and Krimml-Hochkrimml with the spectaculat Krimml waterfall. The ski area also includes Austria's longest downhill run covering a vertical of 1930m.
Mayrhofen - Hippach
Mayrhofen is an international resort known throughout the world and is busy 365 days a year. Its a very pretty village nestled between the Ahorn and Penken mountains.The ski area provides 139kms of downhill runs with the Ahorn providing more family friendly skiing whilst the Penken is for the more adventerous. It is home to the Harakiri piste with its 78% gradient - thats the steepest piste in Austria!
The night life is vibrant and fun with a large selection of bars and restaurants catering for all budgets and tastes.
Tux - Finkenberg
Tux sits at the top end of the Ziller Valley at 1500m and is the gateway to the famous Hintertux Glacier where you can see 365 days a year! The ski area provides 199kms of pistes spread over 5 mountains with 66 lifts and all covered by 1 lift pass.
Whilst the ski area caters for all abilities, there are some fantstic off-piste routes for more expert skiers. One not to be missed is the leg burning 12km run from the top of the glacier at 3250m right down to the base station at 1500m.
