Overview
Ski holidays in Stubai - a 40km long valley flanked by towering mountains with the Stubai glacier, Austria's largest and most famous, at the helm giving guaranteed snow and a ski season that usually starts in October and runs through to the end of May. Just 30 minutes drive from Innsbruck, Stubai is one of Austria's most beautiful valleys just over the Brenner pass from Italy and home to some traditional, authentic, family friendly villages.
These inlude the quaint resorts of Neustift, Fulpmes, Telfes, Meiders and Schönberg. Only Neustift and Fulpmes have ski schools and their own ski areas. However, don't be fooled by it's quaintness! Stubai punches well above it's weight when it comes to the skiing and for the the apres-ski - relaxed and fun is how we would describe it.
Children
On the Stubai glacier, children are well looked after with the "Big Family" creche at the Gamsgarten mountain station taking kids from the age of 3 where they can play with handicrafts, painting and playing inside or outside in the snow. The opening times are daily from 8.45 am to 4pm.
There is also the "Big Family Ski Camp" next door which is a secure area where kids from the age of 4 can learn to ski. See www.schischule-neustift.com for more information and how to book lessons.
