Espace Diamant ski safari
To experience the full extent of what the Espace Diamant ski area has to offer, why not try some guided off-piste ski touring with a local guide. Between Savoie and Haute Savoie, there is a small Beaufortain massif is a paradise for ski touring. It has been hosting the gruelling “Pierra Menta” ski tour for more than 20 years. However, there are many gentle ski tours which are family orientated and you wont need to your piste map.
Grand Mont ski tour - Areches
Areches is a small village across the valley from Hauteluce sitting at 1000m. From the top of the main chairlift, you put your ski touring skins on and climb up 300m to the top of the Grand Mont at 2700m. The views of Mont Blanc are spectacular as are the peaks of the Aravis range. There are several routes back down in deep untracked powder but most people follow the same path as they came up.
Ski touring in Beaufortain
The Beaufortain ski area has countless ski touring possibilities from 1 day trips to 4 days where you can stay overnight in a refuge. One of the popular tours include the Grand Fond pass (2671m). From the pass, you can ski down and overnight in the Plan de la Lai refuge at 1818m before skiing down to Lake Roseland and the Gittaz Valley in the morning.
